Takes the Cake

Whew... the cake is finished. The triplets birthday party is this weekend and we are having a Beauty and the Beast theme. The girls love Beauty and Jadon is mesmerized when the Beast turns into a Prince. They are also getting Disney dolls of Beauty, Snow White, The Beast (turns into a prince... really cool), and Snow White's Prince with a white horse. Along with many other things... trucks, Pjs, etc.... It's always important for me to make a special cake for Birthdays, so I'm glad I got this completed. Half the cake is the "Scary Castle" and the other half is the "Beautiful Castle".... you have to be familiar with the movie to understand. Not sure I can keep up the tradition of making cakes cause it's exhausting, but I'll try as long as it's doable and makes sense. Can't wait to share birthday pics!!

Just another day

Today was actually pretty uneventful, until Cody took a spill on the sofa which scared me to death... got a good bruise on the forehead, but seems to be doing ok despite the horrific fall. The boys got haircuts today and Cody wiggled endlessly while Jadon tried very hard to be a brave boy. I just kept telling him he was turning from the beast into the handsome prince. Later when MaMaw commented on his hair and how handsome he looked, he told her "Don't mess it up." He was rather proud of that new cut. Also... question... why do men always have to rough house???? Pumpkins and Ponies

Seems like most of the time we are desperately searching for something to do with the kids, but Sunday we almost had too much to do. We started off going to church, then followed up with lunch at Chili's with MaMaw and PaPaw. Then we had to decide; go to their schools Annual Fall Festival or go to the Pumpkin Patch (where we go every year and love). We did both and had a ball!!! At the festival, the kids went down a HUGE blowup slide modeled after the Titanic (see last picture and blow up to see close up of kids). I never thought they'd have the nerve and the only thing that gave me any comfort was there was someone at the top to help them. They got to jump in bouncer and ride ponies. Truly a good time. We left there about 4:30 and headed over to the Pumpkin Patch where I went picture crazy. It's one of my favorite spots to shoot pics. We played in the pumpkins, fed a goat, and road on the hayride. Perfect weather and perfect day. We finished up about 6:30 with 4 little pumpkins for carving in hand and went to Denny's for dinner. While there Teacup the lady clown came in. This was the 1st time the kids had seen a clown. Cody and Addison were facing the clown and Cody being a baby didn't give her a second glance, but Addison stared at her throughout dinner with a frown on her face. She wasn't too sure about that clown. At the end of the day we once again gave thanks for our many blessings and put them each to bed... exhausted. (Click on smaller photos to enlarge)

A Laugh When Needed

To be honest, it's been a rough few days.... I won't go into details, just some days are better than others. Today I was riding in the back seat of the car with the girls and Kaylee asked me to make a happy face. I complied and put on a huge grin. Then she asked for a sad face. I turned the corners of my mouth down and put on my sad pout. Finally, she asked for a mad face. I furrowed my brows and scowled at her... she studied my face and said, "Like Grumpy." I said, "Yes" and went back to my mad face. She studied me a minute longer and then said in a very serious voice, "Say Hi Ho!".... Oh my, Some much needed laughter... I mean belly laughs... poured out from deep inside me. God, I love those kids.

Flowers Go to Heaven Too

It's been a while since I posted, but all has been quiet at home and nothing to report. Tonight however, we said an emotional goodbye to a flower....

We went to dinner at Cafe Express, sat outside, then walked around Market Square looking at the water fountains and listening to music. The kids came across a planter of flowers and we let them each take one flower. By the time we got back to the car, Jadon and Addison had pretty much destroyed their flowers; plucking off the petals one by one. But Kaylee, had hers in tact and carefully watched over it all the way home in the car. I didn't realize she even had it when we got home, but after a few minutes of rough play I heard screaming.... "My flower is broken...." After much crying, we told the flower we loved it and agreed to throw it in the trash, but the crying did not end. I told Kaylee the flower was in Heaven with lots of other beautiful flowers.... but she insisted, "I love my flower.... it smelled good. It was a good flower." The crying continued for at least 30 minutes as I tried to console her. Finally, her tears were dried when she learned she could once again put on her footie PJs since it was going to be cold outside tonight.

It really was the saddest thing.... I wish I had thought to capture some of it on video....

Scary Crows

As fall arrives, the kids love driving around and looking at all the pumpkins, ghosts, and scarecrows (or scary crows as they call them). MaMaw and PaPaw thought it would be a good idea if we got our own scary crow.

The Mommy Hobby

As many of you know, I've become almost obsessed with photography and photo editing so I've decided to create a blog to demonstrate what I've learned. I also want to open the door and allow others out there with great photos that just need a little touching up to contact me. All those with little ones know they grow up soooo fast and photos are all we will have to remember those little faces, so I'm trying to get the best photos possible. Click on Mommy Hobby button below to see the new blog.

I'M UPDATING OFTEN, SO BE SURE TO CHECK BACK AND SEE NEW PHOTOS AND TECHNIQUES!!!

Our Zoo...

After much consideration, we have picked out our 2009 Halloween costumes...
Jadon, A Lion
Cody, A Brown Bear
Kaylee, A Monkey
Addison, A Panda Bear
Given our home is often like a zoo, the theme seemed appropriate. They LOVE their costumes and we are all looking forward to trick or treating.

Tinkerbell

A couple weeks ago, Tinkerbell made an appearance at Chick-Fil-A for "Breakfast with Tinkerbell." Jerry and I thought this would be a good thing to do with the kids. Well, whoever dreamt this up is one smart cookie because Tink sure drew a crowd. We waited patiently in line for our turn and when we finally got to meet the charming little green dressed fairy the girls eagerly warmed up to her, but Jadon suspected this wasn't the real Tinkerbell and chose not to participate, but hang out in the safety of Mommy's arms. None the less, we had a good time and killed some time with the kiddos.

Those first little steps

Well, it appears Cody is going to learn to walk just like Jadon did... all in one night. Last night, he finally started trying out his feet. I also included some video of the kids singing. I LOVE LISTENING to Jadon sing "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands."

He's got the whole world in his hands
He's got the wind and the rain in his hands
He's got the tiny little baby in his hands
He's got you and me brother.... he's got you and me sister....
Just to help y'all out thought I'd share the verses....
